Resumen

Este estudio cientométrico proporciona un análisis exhaustivo de la investigación sobre abuso de drogas en los 10 países principales indexados en la Web of Science desde 2010 hasta agosto de 2023. Destaca las significativas contribuciones de autores como Kendler KS e instituciones como el Sistema de la Universidad de California, subrayando el papel crucial que desempeñan en el avance de nuestra comprensión del abuso de drogas. Estados Unidos, China e Irán destacan como principales contribuyentes, con financiamiento proporcionado principalmente por instituciones como el Departamento de Salud y Servicios Humanos de Estados Unidos, el NIH USA y el NIDA. El estudio identifica cuatro agrupaciones distintas de investigación centradas en el alcohol, la cocaína, los opioides y el cannabis, ofreciendo perspicaces insights en áreas específicas de énfasis dentro de la investigación sobre el abuso de drogas. Estos hallazgos subrayan la necesidad de enfoques colaborativos y multifacéticos que involucren a investigadores, instituciones y países para abordar de manera efectiva los desafíos complejos planteados por el abuso de drogas. Basándose en estos conocimientos, futuras investigaciones e iniciativas políticas pueden trabajar hacia estrategias más efectivas para la prevención, intervención y apoyo, contribuyendo en última instancia a mejoras en la salud pública y el bienestar.
